Emotionally, children do not want to see their parents fight. They also do not want to see you upset. They may also feel ignored or uncared for during the process since your attention is on the case.
Another issue is that when you engage in a court battle over your children, it ruins the ability for you to effectively co-parent. You may hold grudges against each other, damage any relationship you had and make it hard to work together in the future due your actions during the case.
